History

BelleHarvest Sales, Inc. was founded in 1957 by ten local fruit growers. The individuals involved recognized the need for a storage facility which would allow them to market their increasing apple production for periods extending well beyond the traditional fall market period. By combining their resources the growers were able to build five 15,000 bushel storage rooms which utilized the new "Controlled Atmosphere" storage technology. A new grader soon followed which allowed the growers to pack and market their fruit from one location. The addition of more growers brought on major additions to the facility in 1965, 1980, 1989 and 1996.

BelleHarvest Sales, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Belding Fruit Storage, Inc., and is the sales and marketing arm for the parent. BelleHarvest Sales is also the exclusive sales agent for four packing houses, handling the sales and quality control of apples, peaches, asparagus and prune plums. The Company has been in operation for 40 years and currently, depending on the crop year, represents approximately 750,000 packed bushels of apples and 50,000 units of peaches with approximately 125 growers in the system. BelleHarvest also operates trucks and hydro-cooling and storage facilities in Southern Michigan during the peach season.
